Public records
Scientist search uses public ORCID-derived records. Public author.link profiles contain information their owners chose to publish.
Search and product metrics
author.link stores search terms, optional search context, result counts, and timing so we can improve relevance, reliability, and speed. Authenticated searches can be associated with the account that made them. Raw search logs have a 90-day retention target. Query and context references saved with a private project remain until that project or scientist is deleted.
The current workspace and public pages do not load third-party analytics scripts.
Accounts and projects
Account profiles, projects, and saved items are stored so those features work. Projects are visible to their owner and accepted collaborators. Members can edit or remove project papers, scientists, notes, and links. Owners manage invitations and membership and can delete the project. Removing a saved paper does not delete its public source record.
Project invitations are sent only when an owner requests one. They contain an expiring, single-use link. Accepting while signed in grants that account project access. Invitation addresses and delivery status are visible to the owner, not all project members. External links do not change the permissions of the linked service.
Reviewer emails
Verified authors may choose to make their own email available for reviewer requests. Saving a scientist to a project does not send an invitation or email.
Private paper triage
Your research interests, personal and search assessments, and relevance feedback remain private to your account, including when you share a project. For feed relevance, author.link sends your confirmed interests and a paper's title and original abstract to Typesafe's Jev service. Submitting a paper search automatically queues assessments using your query and the retrieved papers' titles, authors, and original abstracts instead of your interests. Project notes, invitations, and feedback are not sent with those requests.
Assessments retain the description or query, paper evidence, question, model, and probability used at the time, separately from temporary search logs. Changing interests does not erase earlier assessments or feedback. Relevant and Not relevant labels can be changed or cleared. Saving a paper is not a relevance judgment. Research drafts and invitation links are temporarily held in browser session storage to continue through sign-in. We do not currently use these private records to train or fine-tune models; any future training use requires a separate data-use decision.
Control
You can remove saved items, delete projects you own, and control public profile information and email sharing in Settings. author.link does not sell personal data.
